The difference between homestaging/property styling interior styling
Homestaging or property styling versus interior styling
Interior styling focuses on furnishing a house to suit the needs of its occupants. Property styling, on the other hand, aims to present a house as attractively as possible for sale.
People often ask me if I can also 'style' their homes. They confuse my work as a homestager/real estate stylist with that of an interior stylist. This is understandable, as both professions deal with interior design and styling.
However, homestaging is not yet well known to the general public; many people do not realise that homestaging can contribute significantly to the selling price of a house. Find out how much added value property styling can bring for you.
There are significant differences between the two professions: they work in completely different ways, target different audiences, use different resources and have different deadlines.
Interior styling: a customised home for the resident
What is interior styling:
Interior styling is all about creating a personal atmosphere in the home so that residents get the most out of their home by meeting their specific needs. An interior stylist listens carefully to residents' wishes and asks many questions about their hobbies, lifestyle and what they consider important.
The stylist follows the latest trends and applies them in a personalised concept. This may mean completely changing the layout of the room or moving furniture around to achieve an optimal layout.
An interior stylist asks questions such as: Are you a reader or do you prefer watching TV or movies? Do you like to cook or do you often eat out? or Do you work from home or is your home mainly a place to relax?
Interior styling is all about personalising the home and is intended for the individual or family living there. Interior styling often involves bigger budgets and more time to deliver the project, as the changes are not temporary.
