The evolution of real estate photography
At furniture rental for property styling it is important to present everything in the best possible way to showcase your spaces in the best possible light.
Style at Home has invested in professional equipment since its inception in 2010. Our interiors are photographed with Canon, Nikon and Sony brand digital cameras. It was a mix of Style at Home's Sony cameras as well as the stylists' Canon and Nixon devices. Always photographing interiors with wide-frame lenses, the camera is placed on a sturdy tripod. At the office, each photo is updated in a professional post-processing programme Lightroom. Easily count 1.5h including post-processing per photo shoot.
The evolution of photography in real estate
With the rise of 360 degree photography is revolutionising the world of real estate. Whereas traditional photography is limited to a few corners of a space, 360-degree photography allows viewers to experience an entire environment in one shot.
Traditional photography vs 360-degree photography
For our 360° photos, we had 2 Rocoh Theta V360 devices. The photos were edited one by one and then loaded into a programme to make a tour of them and loaded into a URL.
The innovation of 360-degree photography via smartphone
As this process was quite time-consuming, we invested 2019 in another system via smartphones and custom software. We invested in three Samsung smartphones, with the best lenses at that time. Also three special widescreen lenses suitable for a smartphone and three times 360-degree lenses and invested in the specialised software of Nodalview.
Training and experimentation: The key to success
After some serious training to our stylists, we could start experimenting. We set up the tripod just right. The software also indicates whether your image is perfectly straight. The programme causes the camera to take 8 photos, underexpose one part and overexpose another and superimpose the best parts. This gives you a photo with ideal exposure.
On the spot, the photos are stitched together and the tour is also made. Incredibly faster and with better quality as a result. Almost no post-processing is needed, the software does everything for you. Post-processing we still do, but it is much faster.
Conclusion
New software and apps are defining the future of property presentation. It allows potential buyers or tenants to fully experience a property before seeing it in real life. This can significantly speed up sales or rentals.
